Richard A. Feely, an oceanographer, directs the Marine Carbon Program at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory. He sits on the science steering group for the U.S. Carbon Cycle Science Program and is co-chair of the U.S. CLIVAR/CO2 (climate variability and predictability/carbon cycle) Repeat Hydrography Program. He is the author of more than 150 refereed research publications and has received numerous awards for his research on the carbon cycle in the oceans, including the NOAA Administrator’s Award in 2002. He has a BA in chemistry from the University of St. Thomas (1969) and a PhD in chemical oceanography from Texas A&M University (1974).
